Bouchra Jarrar is leaving Lanvin.
The designer is departing after only 16 months of joining the French fashion house as artistic director.
A rep for Lanvin wrote the following statement:
Lanvin and Bouchra Jarrar have mutually decided to put an end to their collaboration. This decision is effective as of today. Madame Wang wishes to thank Bouchra Jarrar who since her arrival brought her talent to serve the company. Bouchra Jarrar thanks Madame Wang for her trust. She wishes most particularly to acknowledge the work of the teams with who she collaborated to express creativity and French know-how. Bouchra Jarrar will now concentrate on new projects.

Jarrar followed in the foot steps of Alber Elbaz, who was dismissed from the brand in October 2015 after 14 years. Though Elbaz oversaw both men’s and women’s design, Jarrar was in charge of the women’s collection only. She also shuttered her eponymous label to commit to Lanvin.
Her debut collection was described by THR style and fashion news director Booth Moore as “a really smart start” with “a covetable mix of sex appeal and at-home-in-your-own-skin ease,” while her second outing was “a fine collection, although some of the fabrics could have been more substantial, and more expensive-looking.” Jarrar’s contributions haven’t been enough to save the troubled house; in June, the brand reported a 23 percent fall in revenue for 2016, according to Business of Fashion.
The breakup is rumored to have been caused by the tension between Jarrar and CEO Michele Huiban, as well as owner Shaw-Lan Wang’s refusal to allow outside investments. Elbaz is said to have faced disagreements with Huiban and Wang, causing him to exit.
