Technical Designer
Public Cloting Company is seeking a technical Desinger for the Derek Lam 10 Crosby Division.
- Own pattern corrections and sample commenting for assigned styles.
- Communicate with factories on specific details of finishes.
- Ensure the company quality standards are competitive thru market assessment and evaluation.
- Partner with Design, internal Patternmakers and PD to translate Design intent into product technical specifications.
- Create and update specification tech packs, including detailed technical sketches, graded measurements, and construction details from development through to production.
- Identify opportunities for cost engineering improvement and raw material optimization.
- Advise Design of needed changes for technical accuracy and suggest options to achieve aesthetic intent and ensure design elements are consistent across collections.
- Provide technical insight into new silhouette development
- Partner with Design and PD to offer options to meet design intent and margin targets for new silhouettes
- Follow the development and production cycle/timelines to ensure all technical deadlines are achieved.
- Lead fittings for assigned styles
- Review all samples for corrections including aesthetics, dimensions, hand feel, functionality, and workmanship.
- Identify and resolve technical issues and partner with PD team to ensure comments are communicated.
- Execute options, mockups, and revisions after Design review
- Apply grade rules to all sizes. Review graded nests from factories to ensure pattern consistency.
- Review, plot and digitize patterns in the Lectra or Gerber system.
- Manage pattern library, ensure all patterns are received from factory and organized in the shared drive
- Review previous seasons and establish new bodies and blocks to provide Technical, Merchandising, and Design teams with seasonal fit direction.
- Maintain established standards, details (including hardware) and integrity of the product.
- Confirming label and marketing placement instructions for conformance to standards.
- Keep up to date with industry developments for example: construction materials, new techniques and processing.
- Alert management and business associates on high-risk areas, which may impact on production.
