Fabric Sourcing Manager

Position: Fabric Sourcing Manager

Job Duties:

  • Formally establish and manage a Fabric and Trim Sourcing department and lab at TEG.

  • Refine and manage an efficient process to source, negotiate, present, treat, and order fabrics and trims specified by clients.  

  • Use existing project management software (currently Monday.com) to create timelines, schedule, update clients, and track all sourcing projects.

  • Report to Project Manager for overall scheduling and tracking of jobs weekly and on an as-needed basis.

  • Manage all design and sourcing projects to provide the quickest turnaround, and seamless delivery to the client possible.

  • Maintain a high level of customer service with all clients.

  • Research, nurture and maintain an effective, up-to-date sourcing library for clients.

  • Use personal car for completing all off-site tasks. Mileage to be reimbursed by TEG.

  • Other tasks assigned

Job Overview

Full-time fabric and trim Sourcing Manager to oversee a dynamic schedule of 50-100 rotating clients contracted for sourcing services in our fashion development and production company. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to each client, and ensuring successful fabric and trim sourcing from start to finish of their project.  

This includes, but is not limited to, setting a timeline and successfully ensuring the client’s needs are fulfilled with the correct fabrics and trims sourced to their satisfaction.  Maintaining excellent communication with the client and teams involved.  Having extensive knowledge of the apparel fabrics, trims, and those sources that cater to small volume projects, or low minimums, with current sources and fabric or trim options.  This is a full-time in-house position.

Skills and Abilities 

  • Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of all textiles, both knits, and wovens. 

  • Advanced understanding of fabric applications and behaviors, with the ability to assign correct fabrics to specific project requirements.

  • Varied knowledge of garment treatments and send-outs, from denim washes to athletic performance finishes and everything in between.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients to ensure accurate assessment of project needs, and ability to guide them through multiple options suitable for each market or price point from budget to high-end markets.

  • Ability to follow up with vendors and clients alike to ensure timely delivery of goods and garment send-outs.

  • Strong connections with both local and global textile and trim vendors and manufacturers, across all price points, who are able to work with both large and small order quantities.

  • Firm relationships with local contractors, such as dye houses, trim manufacturers, printers, pleaters, and embroiderers are strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of sustainable fabric vendors is strongly preferred.

  • Awareness of cutting edge innovations in the textile industry is strongly preferred.
