Director of Production - $150K

  • Build and execute seasonal production calendar and coordinate with Operations, Design, Product Development, and Patternmaking during pre-production process.
  • Work with leadership to establish upfront brand costing and strategic sourcing goals.
  • Understand and work with cross-functional teams to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Work closely with Product Development & Design team to set target prices for overseas and domestic factories to meet profit margins.
  • Produce detailed costing schedules to identify parameters for negotiations with manufacturers.
  • Work with Design team to offer alternative construction methods to maximize profit margins.
  • Research, locate and vet manufacturing sources overseas and domestically.
  • Visit factories, appraise production capacities and negotiate prices to produce quality products within margin targets.
  • Negotiate and place production orders with factories in line with production calendar.
  • Work closely with factories, international and domestic, through daily communication via email, phone and in-person to ensure day-to-day production operations run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Supervise and recruit overseas Quality Control specialists to conduct on-site production reviews.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, enforce quality control and track shipments to maintain production calendar.
  • Update status of goods through all stages of WIP. Report on important changes.
  • Advise on all production costing changes as they pertain to profit margin.
  • Check and approve factory invoices for labor and materials.
  • Make sure all import documentation is received in time for release of arriving shipments to maintain delivery schedule.
  • Work with 3PL / warehouse to ensure proper handling of inbound production orders and inventory.
  • Monitor and respond to quality issues on incoming goods, correct production defects with factories.
