Product Development and Production Assistant

Behida Dolić is looking for a full-time (or possibly part-time) Product Development and Production Assistant. Responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating the development of new clothing lines, from concept to production, via interaction and collaboration with the Creative Director/CEO, Production Manager, vendors, suppliers, and factories. The successful candidate is a proven self-starter with excellent communication skills, who thrives in a small, fast-paced, creative work environment. Familiarity with the Garment District in Manhattan is a must.

Key responsibilities:

Product Development

  • Partner with Creative Director/CEO to drive trends/concepts to executable samples
  • Create techpacks / specification charts for factories
  • Work on alternative solutions so garments meet cost requirements from initial through final costing; review options with Manager/Director
  • Enter and maintain updates for each style in shared Dropbox; perform daily tracking of goods on order, in progress (WIP)
  • Partner with Creative Director/CEO to create cut tickets by confirming accuracy of size breaks and item information in Dropbox
  • Create and maintain approved vendor matrix, with costing and production capacity portfolio
  • Identify and raise quality and technical issues with factories, mills, vendors and team(s); track capacity and performance of vendors for Production Manager
  • Perform other duties as required for special orders projects. Examples include: trying on garments, conducting fittings, accommodating custom garment requests, visits to the brick-and-mortar location in Hudson, NY, etc.

Production

  • Assist with costing process and price negotiation to achieve IMU goal
  • Work with supervisor on raw materials buys, production planning, liabilities and delivery
  • Generate and follow up on all purchase orders for vendors/suppliers/factories
  • Act as a key liaison between all teams involved (production, design, sales and logistics)
  • Validate and manage Time and Action calendar, updating accordingly
  • Adhere to sourcing strategy by partnering with Production Manger before placing sample request in factories, and approve costing
  • Provide upper management with weekly reports via email / facetime
  • Ensure the production is in accordance with all specifications as per tech-packs & comments
  • Research and develop relationships with new suppliers
  • Communicate daily with all vendors/suppliers/factories regarding style development, production and delivery information
  • Lead touch base meetings with all team members
  • Help to develop and improve tracking and record keeping systems, charts, etc.

Raw Materials

  • Partner with Creative Director/CEO in researching and selection of raw materials to meet price, aesthetic, and quality needs.
  • Track raw materials, and create and maintain raw materials library
  • Local sourcing and delivery of fabric and trims to-from different vendors in the NYC Garment District

Qualifications

  • College degree required.
  • 2-3 years fashion experience required
  • MUST be organized, detail oriented and have strong communication
  • Experience in sourcing, development, production and costing in accordance with seasonal calendar.
  • Comfortable with computers and basic software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) Preferred Adobe Suite capabilities (AI, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; high sense of urgency
  • Creative, technical capable with a sensibility for merchandising/design
  • Knowledge of garment construction, fabrication, trim and print/color techniques
