Assistant Manager, Product Development

JOB SUMMARY:

The Supervisor of Product Development is critical to supporting ATC’s strategy to deliver innovative bedding products at superior value. This role will assist PD Managers in executing product line plans to achieve annual sales and profit goals. With limited supervision, the candidate will work independently on assigned projects while contributing to collaborative efforts within the team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and engaging with cross-functional and overseas partners within ATC.
  • Supports the development of profitable bedding/home textile programs by account/product manager as assigned.
  • Helps deliver product, costing, and samples to drive product sell-in at markets and account meetings.

Product Specifications and Design of Products

  • Under the direction of PD Director, Manager and/or Senior Manager, the PD Supervisor writes, issues and maintains detailed product specifications based on retailer and market development needs.
  • Initiates requests for quotations, samples and QC testing as assigned.
  • Works with cross-functional partners to achieve desired product while meeting cost requirements (may involve reviewing various fabric, design and fiber/fill options).


Develop and Test and Track Product

  • Works with PD sample team, Quality Control, China team and suppliers to ensure initial samples and final product meets design requirements and address any failures/revisions to product design (including law tag final review where applicable).
  • Tracks PP and TOP samples and makes certain any issues are addressed in a timely manner.

Technical Specifications

  • As assigned by manager, completes customer/item-level product specifications for ATC items. These documents reflect the required labels, case packs, carton weights, critical dimensions and final packaging, necessary to manufacture the product.


Law and Care Labels

  • Creates and approves care and law labels on products as assigned.
  • Requires coordination with internal and external personnel to ensure that all requirements are met.
  • Works with marketing team to verify care instructions match product packaging.

Samples

  • Assists with on-going sales sample requests.
  • This includes tracking requests, prioritizing for sample team, partnering with marketing to ensure packaging is correct/printed, managing tracking numbers and ensuring receipt.


Market Development

  • Assists PD managers with bi-annual Market development.
  • May include: competitive shopping, trend analysis, new product ideas, spec building, coordination of packaging renders with marketing, sample tracking, etc.

Updating Product Catalog

  • Assists with the maintenance of ATC’s Product Catalog throughout the product life cycle.
  • This includes entering new and updating existing items with changes.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
  • Keen attention to detail and strong multi-tasking abilities
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required
  • Ability to gain proficiency in new software packages (Adobe Illustrator, etc.)
  • This role is physically located at our company headquarters in Duquesne, PA

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to withstand prolonged periods sitting at a desk
  • Frequent use of upper extremities to perform keyboard functions and work on a computer
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to intermittently stand/walk
