Associate Denim / Wovens Designer

The Associate Denim/Wovens Designer, in partnership with the cross functional team (Sales, Production, Technical Design, etc.), designs and executes all denim and non-denim woven garments including but not limited to: Bottoms, Jackets, Dresses, and Overalls. They research relevant trends, communicate daily with our factories, and participate in regular fittings. 


Position Responsibilities 

  • Work with merchandising partners (Design Director, Sales, Management) to initiate seasonal direction of silhouette, fabric, wash, and concept based on current best sellers and market trends.
  • Seek out newness and innovation through all design resources including trend websites, runway and in-store shopping.
  • Design, illustrate and create tech packs for garments, including detailed sketches, wash direction, garment construction, fabric selections, trims, etc.
  • Create and update seasonal development boards.
  • Correspond with factories to arrange sourcing, lab dips, strike-offs, handlooms, wash panels, packaging, and development samples.
  • Modify development T/Ps for costing and production.
  • Tag and label all garments to be put in the showroom.
  • Photograph and edit images of garments received.
  • Assist your fellow designers when necessary.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with cross functional team members through communication and problem solving.
  • Manage deadlines.

Position Requirements 

  • 3 plus years of design experience
  • Background in denim preferred (must understand the fundamentals of the production & wash process)
  • Experience with fit, fabric development, finishes, and construction
  • Strong sketching skills
  • Understanding of the Junior, Missy & Girls markets
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities
  • Proactive and solution-oriented
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Photoshop, & Illustrator
