Technical Designer - Contemporary Clothing Brand

Contemporary clothing brand is seeking a self-motivated, and very detail oriented Technical Designer to join its team.  Ideally looking to hire part time/freelance to start located on site at the Corporate office, becoming a full-time salaried position.  The position reports to the Creative Director and works closely with the design team.  Must be a strong team player and able to take feedback and adjust to factory’s way of working.  Requirements/responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Daily communication w/ factories & vendors to handle all technical related production work flow and emails.
  • Responsible for attending fittings and accurately conveying all fit comments and information clearly to factory (including photo comments, measurements, pattern corrections, fabric issues, etc. as needed).  The ideal candidate would be able to lead fittings in future after training complete.
  • Responsible for creating and/or updating tech packs as needed for both development and production.
  • Must be very knowledgeable in garment construction (sewing/patternmaking).
  • Must be able to problem solve and find causes of/ solutions to fit and construction issues with follow through until fixed.
  • Measure all garments (at various stages of development and/or production as required).
  • Proficiency in Excel & Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop required.
  • Must have outstanding organizational and multitasking skills, with attention to detail.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, dedicated to producing high quality work.
  • Should be focused and able to work independently while also maintaining deadlines & coordinating w/ team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed.
  • Knowledge of cut & sew knits, or garment dye/treatments preferred.
  • Knowledge of PAD patternmaking software or similar a plus.
  • Min. 3-5 years industry experience preferred (salary DOE).
