ASSISTANT DESIGNER

Sportswear Co. seeking an entry level Assistant Designer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain firsthand design experience in a fast-paced environment.  We are looking for an energetic and highly motivated individual.  Candidate must communicate effectively and work well as part of a team. Design firm or showroom experience a PLUS.

DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Designer to work directly under Merchandise Manager to assist overall Design Room needs.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with trend research, design and development.
• Assisting sketching flats in Illustrator
• Tech pack and line sheets
• Return store samples
• Sample and fabric swatch organization
• Creating color cards
• Occasional errands such as pick up store sample and fabric/trim shopping.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1-2 years’ experience in apparel design.
• Associate in Fashion Design.
• Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, highly detail oriented, meticulous and creative.
• Creativity, technical capability and sensibility for merchandising; ability to sketch.
• Knowledge of garment construction and sewing techniques
• Strong organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft office.
