ASSISTANT DESIGNER

Assistant Designer:
 Responsibilities:
- Assist in inspiration research.
- Assist in tracking styles from proto stage through SMS, including lab dips, print strike-offs & trim development.
- Assist in sourcing fabric information for new fabric development.
- Assist in creating print detail sheets & tracking strike-off development.
- Helps to set up meeting areas for design review and style out meetings making sure all samples are steamed, tagged and organized.
- Strong communicator with cross functional teams & overseas factories (China & India).
- Checks in all samples as they arrive from factory at proto and salesman sample stage.
- Maintains a well-organized fabric, trim & yarn archives library season to season.
- Collaborate and actively share creative insights with team members.
- Assist in preparation for key meetings such as Concept & Sketch Review.
- Ensure all meetings are prepared with appropriate line sheets, and reference materials.
- Ownership of development & SMS linesheet updates
- Create and manipulate CADS in Illustrator.
- Build construction pages and BOMs.
- Input and maintain styles in PLM.
- Assist with fittings, take note of changes and incorporate updates across line sheets & PLM.
- Adhere to time and action calendar.
- Contribute positively to team dynamic and assist wherever possible.
- Follow through on tasks assigned to you in a timely manner.
- Maintain a consistent sense of urgency while being creative.
Required Skills:
- 1+ year industry experience
- Working knowledge of PLM a plus.
- Strong sketching / Adobe Illustrator skills.
- Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign & Excel.
- Knowledge of garment construction.
- Possess a creative spirit, and effectively express your ideas.
- Must be proactive and naturally inclined to problem-solve.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new processes. Not afraid to ask questions.
- Ability to multi-task and adjust workload as a result of shifting priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain positive working-relationships among team members, management and cross-functional teams.
