SENIOR DESIGNER – Fashion Accessories

We are a leading fashion accessory company that designs and manufactures accessories for top junior chains and contemporary retailers.  We have offices in NY, LA, SF and Shanghai.  

We are looking for a New York City based creative, passionate, and experienced Senior Accessory Designer to join our design team. Must be organized, self-disciplined individual. Must have excellent knowledge and speed in Illustrator and photoshop particularly for headwear, cold weather, gloves, toppers, bags, and hosiery. 

The selected candidate will be part of small team leading the creation of innovative, functional and beautiful items through design, presentation, specification, and development.

Essential Functions

• Drive the design and development of products from initial concept through approval:

• Create highly detailed drawings and sketches for technical purposes
• Ensure design specification packages are complete and accurate
• Create highly detailed presentation packages and product renderings
• Creating and manipulate colors, prints and graphics within Photoshop and Illustrator
• Execute corrections as needed; works with merchandising and production to find appropriate solutions to cost and/ or construction issues
• Work with merchandising and sales teams to assist in determining sales needs and opportunities
• Review, comment, and issue approvals on products

• Assist in the seasonal concepting process for relevant categories:

• Market and trend research
• Create concept boards

• Ensure all deadlines and key dates are met.

• Manage daily communications with internal teams and vendors

• Assist junior staff members in managing their workload as required.

• Work with Design team colleagues to produce presentation materials that effectively communicate concepts and creative strategy.

Qualification

• Must have STRONG Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills

• Bachelors Degree in Design or equivalent experience

• Minimum 5+ years industry experience (Knit/ Woven/ Print)

• Able to convey design details to manufacturers

• Strong sense of color, fashion, product & trend

• Technical knowledge of knit, woven, cut & sew accessory construction.

• Technical knowledge of bag design and construction.

• Technical knowledge of product categories and the ability to create detailed tech packs.

• Experience working with licenses/brands, retail customers such as Walmart and Target is a major plus.  

• Ability to work under deadlines, manage multiple priorities, work independently, take initiative, and pay close attention to detail

• Ability to works well in a fast paced, team environment.
