TECHNICAL DESIGNER

Job Description:  The Technical Designer is primarily responsible for ensuring that brand fit, desired appearance and quality construction standards are met and maintained. This position will also work closely with internal and external teams to evolve processes and procedures while continually striving to elevate product quality.  

Major Responsibilities:

• Supervise fit standards and block developments.  
• Create and manage tech packs detailing sewing, points of measurement, graded specifications, wash descriptions, label/hangtag placement, bill of materials, packaging instructions, etc. 
• Actively lead and facilitate fit sessions and send out fit comments.  
• Provide technical direction to internal team in addition to vendors (overseas and domestic) on matters pertaining to specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit, balance and overall garment quality.  
• Anticipate and resolve any problems with the fit process. Partner with vendors in the resolution of problems as necessary.  
• Liaison between Design and factories to ensure clear communications.  
• Create and maintain seasonal fit tracking charts.  
• Manage wear test feedback and oversee system for implementation.  
• Responsible for grading and approval of PP and TOP samples.  
• Provide oversight and direction to Associate Tech Designer.  

Qualifications:

•   Min 5 years Technical Design experience.  
•   Bachelor’s degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design or equivalent direct work experience.  
•   Must have extensive technical, patternmaking and garment construction knowledge in active apparel and/or knits.
•   Knowledge of apparel construction (methods and machinery) for both sample making and bulk production.  
•   Strong written and verbal communication skills.
