Position Title Designer – Young Men’s Knits & Sweaters
Reports to: Design Director

Position Summary
This position requires a versatile, nimble and multi-talented individual that is able to design different product categories to support multiple opportunities and projects. Under the guidance of the design director, the designer is involved in all aspects of the design and development of the assigned product categories. The designer manages the flow of communication between design, tech, sourcing, and external vendor partners to ensure product execution and cost goals are met.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct seasonal trend and color research and present original concepts that are consistent with the strategic direction of the assigned brand and product category.
- Seasonal design focus ranges from sweaters in the fall to cut & sew and swim in the spring/summer.
- Execute designs for a given season from initial sketches to final tech packs.
- Develop and integrate prints, patterns, graphics and demonstrate a cohesive and commercial point of view in color and pattern.
- Create presentation line sheets for the sales team and buyers.
- Deliver meaningful seasonal product research and show an understanding of assortment and business strategies.
- Partner with the creative director during the design process to ensure consistency.
- Plan, organize and conduct tech pack handoffs and follow up with vendors.
- Process comments and approvals of product, fabric and trim development submits.
- Meet all deadlines.
- Demonstrate visible leadership within constraints of the job, and initiate opportunities for continued development.

Qualifications
- 4-year degree in apparel design, and a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the related category, or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in CAD illustration, print, pattern, and graphic design as well as flat sketch design.
- Proficient in the following software: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Kaleido, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Demonstrated high taste level and creative ability.
- Knowledge of apparel design and product development processes, including sweater yarns, textiles, and garment manufacturing.
- Presentation and organization skills.
- Proven design expertise in a given category.
- Commercial sense and market knowledge.
- Team player.
- Strong listening skills and experience assimilating product feedback.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated proactive thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to research and apply market/trend information.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
