Production Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and manage all activities involved in pre-production planning, such as raw materials booking, capacity planning, timeline management and priority setting. Lead communication with factories.
  • Work closely with the Director of Planning to obtain a forecast in a timely manner and understand priorities/timing for re-orders of core items. 
  • Partner with Director of Product Development to ensure that SKUs move smoothly from Product Development into Production. Understand any development testing done, understand the history of the product, particularly the Design approval and correctly capture that in Production.
  • Oversee the PO placement to factory, ensuring POs are placed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain constant communication with all factories and be aware of factors that might benefit or harm production status.
  • Oversee that PLM (Backbone) and the PO and Inventory Management platform (NetSuite) are maintained with accurate information.
  • Lead weekly Production meetings with Vice President. Address any quality issues and pro-actively seek guidance from/elevate to the Vice President matters concerning technical and quality issues and/or concerns that may either benefit or harm the company.
  • Request lab testing and pilot runs for new and repeat items.
  • Identify and arrange product user testing, collect results and identify learnings.
  • Coordinate with Director of Quality for pilot run booking, mechanical testing requests and general quality audit booking.
  • Partner with Logistics Analyst to ensure they are aware of production ready dates, so shipments can be booked with freight forwarder.
  • Reports to the Vice President of Product Development and Production and will manage one direct report.

QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a production function in a Consumer Goods industry is preferred.  
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications and proficient skills with inventory management and PLM systems.
  • The ability to read, interpret and analyze documents/reports including financial data, and extract directionally correct information.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, multitasker, works well in a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; collaborative, team oriented.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with overseas factories, managing through the different time zones.
  • Available to work within the core hours of 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with the need during peak periods, to accommodate a flexible schedule outside of core hours / weekdays.  Occasionally will need to handle issues before or after core hours due to international time zone differences.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / FLSA STATUS

  • Indoor, open office environment.  The office noise level is moderately loud.  
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time while simultaneously working on the computer and telephone.  Must be able to lift to 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Willing to travel domestically and overseas (primarily Asia) if required.  Estimated travel is 10%.
